Department of Corrections - Head Office

An extremely important aspect of this project was the Catalyst-led ‘retreat’ areas. 

Recognising that collaborative areas can sometimes be a little overwhelming due to the noise, hype and excitement, Catalyst developed retreat areas that enabled more introverted people to undertake their work. These areas supported focus-based work activities and where privacy is required.

As an added feature, Catalyst developed a virtual reality programme for the senior executive team – this enabled them to truly grasp how their new workspaces would work and how multiple areas would support their respective teams.

This project, a collaboration between Catalyst and two other firms was awarded 'Best Government Project' by the 'Project Management Institute' in 2019. It was also a finalist for the NZIOB 'Collaboration Award' in the same year.
