Project Information
Catalyst engaged with Sedgwick New Zealand to develop a workplace strategy to accommodate a growing team and achieve a more social and value-based work setting. This resulted in a relocation to new premises located on Newmarket’s Carlton Gore Road.

The fresh start enabled Sedgwick to demonstrate their commitment to their core values whilst optimising their workplace and practices for hybrid working, encouraging their team back to the office.
The overarching industrial style was contrasted with warm lighting and soft natural finishes, which achieved a comfortable and inviting workspace.
Steering away from a typical manned reception, the front of house area is referred to as the ‘welcome area’. The statement piece is a striking solid stone kiosk, paired with natural timber veneer wall panelling which provides a memorable first impression. Carefully considered warm accent lighting helps to bring attention to the company branding.
Visitors are greeted by a clean, and warmly inviting relaxing industrial space, featuring a stunning solid stone counter, elevated ceilings, and feature timber veneer panelling.
The kitchen was thoughtfully designed to be a highly functional and social space where employees can work, socialize, eat, grab coffee and attend events. To maximise floor space, we designed different options for seating configurations, which can double as collaboration hubs or workpoints. The fully equipped kitchen caters perfectly for internal and external work functions. Acoustic products and finishes were considered early on to combat sound reverberation.
As staff wellbeing was a key driver for the new office space, workstations were positioned along the perimeter wall to capitalise on the natural light, while placing the meeting rooms in the centre of the floorplate. Plants were incorporated throughout the space to create a warm and relaxed setting.
As one of Sedgwick’s values was open communication, we encouraged the executive team to ditch the traditional office. Incorporating frosted glass partitions without doors provided them with ample privacy, whilst truly evidencing their ‘open door’ policy.

Catalyst knew when to challenge and push us to think larger. We worked together symbiotically to deliver the vision. It was a true collaboration that delivered on brief and within budget”.
