Detailed Design (For Construction)

Catalyst designers will provide fully coordinated "for construction" documentation, including electronic and hard copy versions of drawings, specifications, calculations, details, and finishes. We will confirm with the territorial authority on building consent and discuss any conditions with project participants. Our team will also integrate the services consultant's drawings into the master set of construction drawings and conduct a peer review to ensure consistency across all disciplines. Finally, we will update the documents to provide sub-contractors with the necessary information to perform their duties.

Scope/Project Management

To ensure success, we will comprehensively define the scope of the project, establish a project plan, assign clear roles, define quality measures, establish reporting chains, and put in place systems to manage outputs.

Procurement

At Catalyst, we have extensive experience in tendering to contractors, subcontractors, and consultants accross New Zealand. We develop and manage the tender and procurement process for each project to ensure the best value tendering is achieved. We can also provide recommendations on contractor resource and material availability.

Budgeting and Financial Management

Our Catalyst project managers oversee the day-to-day management of project finances, ensuring that any variations or changes are appropriately challenged and minimized where possible. If variations are valid, they are suitably approved and documented in line with the agreed process, and the project budget is formally update.

Communication

At Catalyst, we maintain a high level of communication and reporting throughout the project using our Procore communication portal. This includes, but is not limited to:

- Internal team discussions: Regular informal meetings, including face-to-face, phone, or email, involving the wider project team to discuss and brainstorm all aspects of the project, identify issues and opportunities.

- Project control group meetings: Formal meetings with all key stakeholders to discuss key project elements, including time, cost, quality, scope, benefits, and risk, with formal documentation issued to all affected parties with action points.

- Regular progress reporting: Formal documentation issued at regular intervals, reporting on project status, suitable for communication to the wider business.

- Ad hoc tailored reporting: Both formal and informal reporting through all phases of the project, from design to build, to communicate as required to all levels of the business, from Senior Leadership team through to wider staff.

Time Management

Meeting specified timeframes and end dates is crucial. At Catalyst, our construction project manager ensures that dates are managed and that contingency strategies are constantly evolving to meet deadlines.

Health & Safety

Managing Workmanship

At Catalyst, our construction delivery manager ensures that deliverables are completed to the highest standards, in accordance with the agreed documentation and specifications.

Close-out of Project

This includes overseeing remedials, commissioning, and ensuring that contractors and consultants complete their works to meet code and Council requirements for sign-off.

Landlord Coordination

If required, Catalyst can work with the landlord and their consultants to ensure that your best interests are maintained in terms of scope delivery, costs, program, and quality.

Engineer to the Contract

Catalyst's engineer to the contract service ensures the project is delivered to the highest standard, in accordance with specifications. This includes overseeing remedials and ensure compliance with code and Council requirements. Clients have peace of mind and are kept informed throughout the process.
